So my husband and I have subscribed to Universal Yums. I signed us up last year for something to do during Covid-19 and we renewed our subscription this year because it was so much fun!
We subscribed to the middle box where we get roughly 12 snacks in a box (this year though you might get only 10 because it's harder for the company to get snacks right now). Up front for the year I spent $300 which is totally worth it for a whole year. You get the snacks, information on the snacks, information on the country of the month, games, and even a place where you can listen to tunes from the country.
My husband and I do date night every Friday night and we stretch the box to go for 4 weeks doing about 3 snacks a night. The boxes ship roughly aroundthe 15th of every month. It's just enough for us to thoroughly enjoy each snack as well as do a little bit of the activity book. It generally takes us about 20 mins which still leaves us plenty of time to watch a movie.
We have learned about so many different countries starting with the UK and this month we just finished South Korea. We have loved some of the snacks so much that we even purchased a few from the Yum store. To date my favorite and most memorable is Milk Chocolate with Strawberry Pop Rocks. Wow that was an experience the first time we had them and of course had to buy more as soon as they got back in stock at the shop. They are very popular and are generally out of stock.
So this would make a great date night for you as well. You can get really into this if you want by choosing to watch a movie from that country, listen to the tunes, do research and eat a meal from that country (the book usually has a recipe or two as well), play a popular game from that country, etc.
Not to mention it's educational if you want to get the whole family involved. There are 3 different sizes and if I could afford it I would totally get the biggest one which has 18 to 20 snacks, but for now we are happy with ours.
If Universal Yums is not for you try other subscription boxes for date night. There are endless ideas: games, tea, coffee, ones that support mom-and-pop stores around the USA, spices from other countries, chocolate, healthy snacks, etc.
I love it because it's something my husband and I look forward to every week and we never know what country we are getting next. It's something fun we can do together and it doesn't matter if we feel like going out or not (or if we can go out or not). I would hopefully like to keep renewing this every year and maybe try some other subscription boxes for us to bond over.
Thank you for stopping by to check out this post. Pleas like and subscribe for more posts like this one. Have a blessed day!
