A fun game to play with family and friends this Easter with a little competition, clues, and, of course, prizes!
So I was inspired recently. I was at work traying up cookies and such (I'm a baker) and it hit me. Just came to me. You see, I had been thinking about fun activities I could do with my adult family and the Holy Spirit gave me an idea. An Easter egg hunt for adults (but older kids can play too) filled with competition, clues, and different prizes. It sorta combines an egg hunt with a scavenger hunt with games.
I started to feel my excitement rise as ideas flooded my mind. I grabbed a piece of paper to jot them all down (don't worry I still got my work done). This is the version I've come up with for this year.
So let me break it down. It's an Easter egg hunt with a variety of different eggs.
Prize Eggs
Immediate prizes like when you were playing as a kid. Who didn't love that?
Examples: Good chocolate like Lindor Truffles or dollar bills.
Hindrance Eggs
These effect your ability to look for eggs like having to crawl around for the rest of the game.
Attack Eggs
These you can use on other people to hinder their ability to play the game. For example, you can make someone else have to crawl around for the rest of the game. Sounds fun right?
Challenge Eggs
These come with a task you have to complete in order to win a prize (typically bigger than can fit in an egg). This could be having to eat a hanging donut without using your hands.
Clue Eggs
Now these are special because the clues also teach you something. Little factoids if you will. The one I have completed now teaches you all about how Christians around the world celebrate Easter. You learn something which leads you to a prize.
Prizes for Clue and Challenge egg ideas:
Bird House. I like this one on Ebay for the good price.
Humming bird feeder which can be found as low as $1 at Family Dollar.
Gift Cards
Poo-Pourri which could be funny, but also practical. I got this one on Amazon and I'm going to use it for two prizes.
And many more...
Here's How to Play
- When you find an egg, open it immediately and do what's inside.
- You can only have one hindrance at a time.
- If you get an attack egg, you can't put the hindrance on someone who already has it.
- When doing challenges, hindrances are suspended.
- If you see prizes to clue eggs, don't take or move them.
- Please make adjustments for people who need it. For example, someone can't hop on one leg, they can go without using one arm instead.
I've done most of the work for you already. I made a digital file with instructions, suggestions, and all the printables you need. It's available on Etsy.
I designed this game to be great for families, Bible Studies, a Church activity, etc. You don't even have pay too much money out of pocket either for all those prizes (trust me I know it's expensive). This activity can be set up where everyone chips in or pays an admission fee. Somewhere around $10-$20 a person would be good. Remember the more money, the more fun with more eggs and prizes.
I'm personally doing this game with my family this year and I can't wait (I don't think they can either). We only have 8 people so I'm not even going to use all the clues or challenges. I'm also doing the Coved-19 friendly version.
Did I not mention you can easily make this Covid-19 friendly? Just omit the things I marked in the pdf and you are all set!
I have tons of other variations I also want to make for future versions. Please like and subscribe to see more posts like this.
