So this is just kind of a random experience that got me thinking. Has anyone reading ever played Monopoly GO? If so, then you know what I'm talking about when I bring up the term "cash grab". For those who don't know, it's a small activity in the game that sometimes when you land on the chance space you might be doing a "cash grab" where monopoly money falls down your screen and you have to get it in haste. It remands me of those like game shows where they lock a person in a box and money flies around them and they have to grab as much as they can so they can keep more. they always look silly. Well for me doing this "cash grab" made me feel silly too.
To back track I downloaded the game using a site called Swagbucks where I was paid to reach levels within a certain number of days. Yes I made ACTUAL money playing Monopoly. Anyway, the first time I came to a "cash grab" my first thought was that it was clever. As I did it though I felt frantic and it wasn't really sinful but it does highlight that sinful greed nature. The act of scrambling to get every bill before it slips past you isn't a healthy mindset. It's just a game, yes, but it's different than other things I've seen in games.
I have to add that it is a fun game with a lot of things to do and play with friends. It really does stick to a pretty traditional Monopoly game overall which I loved. It just got me thinking about how I still struggle with greed and materialism as many of us do. We can't really help it because out world is run by money. Not an excuse, but still.
Anyway, you can think what you want. To me it just stood out as a lesson to apply to my real life and not cling and reach for every dollar and forget what's really important. Spending time with the One that made money in the first place and anything I could possibly need is a much better choice. I may not get all I want, but He will ensure I have all I need.
I pray you all have a blessed day!
