Crossfire by Lynette Eason

I have been reading a lot more books lately since I switched jobs. I used to work in a bakery and now I'm a receptionist (I will share why I changed jobs later because that is a STORY). Sitting more I have time to read around my other duties and I take full advantage of the library.

Anyway this is the second book in the Extreme Measures series. The first book was called Life Flight. That one kinda freaked me out. Not really a bed time story with a serial killer hunting the main character and bodies in a freezer. It was a little much for me but defintely a good read. This one has been a little easier for me to read but still full of suspense.

Basically It's about this hostage negotiator it ends up with a target on her and her sister's back and she has to figure who this person is before they kill more people. It's told through several points of view from hers, her love interest, her sister, the killer, and an outsider. It all pulls the story along and I had a hard timer putting it down.

Told from a Christian perspective as well about learning to trust God as our Protector when our instict is try to do things our own way and panic. Even just coping with PTSD, we need God. He is our Comfortor.

The series is linked - but not - just like many other authors write that way. The books tell the stories of four friends. I love that they all have a hint of romance around the drama. You really don't need to read them in order as they don't make too much reference to each other's stories as far as I've seen. Some authors like to recap previous books in their books, which I'm not personally a fan of, because, what if I didn't know the book I grabbed wasn't the first in the series? Now I know how that oterh book went so I'm less interested in reading it now.

Anyway, this series has made it onto my best books list that I recommend to others. Suspense and hostage situations may not be your cup of tea because maybe you have PTSD or just don't like violence. However, I enjoyed the read and it was helpful to get me thinking about how I would handle the situations and it gave tips and insight into the minds of unwell indivduals.

May God bless you today!
